Delegation of Taiwan IA Business Leaders to Visit the U.S. March 31-April 6

The American Institute In Taiwan (AIT) is pleased to announce that Minister Tsay Ching-Yen, Minister of State, will lead a delegation of Taiwan Information Appliances (IA) business leaders to the United States. The mission has been organized by the Commercial Section of AIT to maximize exposure to meaningful IA-related applications and solutions in Greater Seattle and Silicon Valley. The National Information and Communication Steering Committee of the Executive Yuan, the Washington State and California State offices in Taipei, the Taipei Computer Association and the Institute for Information Industry Market Intelligence Center are all supporting the mission.

The delegation represents a high-level cross-section of Taiwan’s technology sector, including prominent decision-makers from public organizations, quasi-governmental organizations and private-sector technology firms. Private sector participants are drawn from industry leaders in the areas of computer hardware, IC (integrated circuits), software, telecommunications and household appliances.

Taiwan is a leading information technology producer and is the world’s leading producer of an impressive array of information technology products. Many of Taiwan’s key IT players are shifting resources to IA development and are seeking U.S. suppliers and technology partners. The purpose of the mission is to familiarize qualified Taiwan firms with U.S. technology and expertise, to seek suitable products or technologies to distribute or represent in Taiwan, to help participants better understand new IT technology trends and applications, and to facilitate strategic alliances, business partnerships and joint venture activities in Taiwan.

The delegation will visit U.S. high-tech firms leading the development of IA technology and related applications (e.g., Microsoft, IBM, HP, Sun, Oracle, etc.); small and medium high-tech firms; as well as leading academic R&D institutions and professional associations active in the IA arena. The delegation plans to depart for Seattle on March 31 and will spend three days in the Greater Seattle area. The delegation will then move on to San Jose and Silicon Valley for two days on April 4 and 5.
