The American Institute in Taiwan Changes American Citizens Services Unit Business Hours

PR0207E | Date: 2002-01-24

Beginning February 4, the American Citizens Services Unit of AIT Taipei will close over the lunch hour, from 12:00 until 1:30 PM. It will be open to the public from 8:00 AM until 12 Noon and then again from 1:30 until 3:30 PM. AIT Kaohsiung’s Travel Services Section hours will continue to be from Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 12 Noon.

PASSPORT RENEWALS

If your American passport is due to expire in less than one year, it is time to think about renewing it. Many countries in the region require that a traveler’s passport be valid for at least six months upon arrival. You should also keep in mind that it takes approximately one month to renew a passport through AIT, so plan accordingly.

AMERICAN CITIZEN REGISTRATION

American citizens residing in Taiwan are urged to register with AIT Taipei or AIT Kaohsiung. Please visit the AIT/TSS/ACS Web site at ait.org.tw to register on-line or stop by the American Citizens Services Unit and fill out a registration card. All Americans are invited to subscribe AIT/TSS/ACS e-mail message service. Subscribers receive the latest bulletins from the U.S. Department of State as well as news from AIT of upcoming events such as the visit of the IRS representative. To subscribe, send an e-mail to aittaipeiacs-subscribe@yahoogroups.com.
