PR0201E | Date: 2002-01-11

The American Cultural Center is presenting in its lobby display cases an exhibition titled "People – Ceramics by Hsu Huey-na," from January 10 through February 22, 2002.

Hsu Huey-na, a ceramic artist and an instructor at Fu Jen Catholic University received her M.F.A. in Ceramics from the University of Houston in 1993. A biology-major at the Fu Jen Catholic University, Hsu took on arts when she studied at the University of California at Fullerton in 1987. Hsu's previous work experience in medical centers in Taiwan prompted her to explore the changeable nature of human beings.

Hsu believes there are various twisted sides of human nature. When it is displayed publicly, the chaos will be reflected in the society and people will have to experience the invisible pressure and pain. Hsu seeks ways peoples’ minds can regain peace. Thus, abstract ceramic figures representing various features of mankind come from her creative hands. There are individual and group pieces in this exhibition. They present similar forms but imply different emotions.

The American Cultural Center lobby is open to the public from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. Mondays through Fridays. It is closed Saturdays, Sundays and holidays. The American Cultural Center is located at 54 Nan Hai Road, Taipei.
