AIT's New Web Page on Islam in the United States

PR0149E | Date: 2001-12-19

The American Institute in Taiwan has added a special Web page, “Islam in the United States,” to its special cultural diversity focus on its Web site. The page has a section on Ramadan and a photo gallery highlighting the observance of this important Muslim celebration in the United States. The Bush administration has reached out to the U.S. Muslim community during Ramadan with Iftaar dinners at the White House and at the Departments of State and Defense.

Other features of this Web page include photos, texts, related Web sites, and news items from Harvard University's Pluralism Project on the observance of Ramadan across the country. The photo gallery highlights the White House Iftaar dinner and how American Muslims observed the month-long holiday of fasting and purification.

The public and members of the media are welcome to view and download the photos. The page is available on the Internet: http://usinfo.org/ or http://ait.org.tw/.
