U.S. Congressional Delegation to Visit Taipei April 14-16, 2001
A delegation from the U.S. Congress, led by Senator Phil Gramm (R-TX), will visit Taiwan April 14-16, 2001. The delegation will meet with Taiwan authorities to discuss matters of mutual interest to Taiwan and the United States.
Senator Gramm is the Chairman of the U.S. Senate committee on Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs. He holds a Ph.D. in economics and is serving his third term in the Senate. Other members of the delegation include Senator Bob Bennett (R-UT), Senator Jim Bunning (R-KY), and Senator Mike Crapo (R-ID). They are all members of the Senate Banking Committee. Senator Bennett is also the immediate past chairman of the Senate's Republican High-Tech Task Force. Senator Bunning also serves on the Senate Committee on Armed Services, and Senator Crapo on the Committee on Environment and Public Works.
