IRS Representative Available At AIT for American Tax Assistance

A representative from the U.S. Internal Revenue Service (IRS) will visit Taiwan from March 20 to March 25 to provide information and assistance to taxpayers in preparing their 1999 federal tax returns or prior year returns.
In Taipei, the representative will be at the American Institute in Taiwan on Monday, March 20 and Tuesday, March 21 (8:00 to 12:00 and 1:00 to 3:30) and on Wednesday, March 22 (8:00 to 12:00). The service is free and is provided on a first-come, first-served basis. No appointments are necessary.
In Kaohsiung, the representative will be at the American Institute in Taiwan on Thursday, March 23 (8:30 to 12:00 and 1:00 to 4:30) and on Friday, March 24 (8:30 to 12:00). The service is free and is by appointment. Please call the American Citizen Services Office (07-224-0154, ext. 15) to arrange an appointment.

A volunteer with many years of experience in tax preparation will be available at the Taipei American School (Admissions Office, No. 800, Chung Shan North Road, Sec. 6, Tien Mu) to answer your tax questions on the following Saturdays:
March 11, 18, and 25 from 9:00 to 12:00
April 1, 8 from 1:00 to 4:00

You may pick them up at AIT's Taipei office Monday through Friday, 8:00 to 3:30 or AIT's Kaohsiung office Monday through Thursday, 8:30 to 11:30 (closed holidays). All IRS forms, schedules, instructions, and publications are available on the Internet at www.irs.gov.
The 1999 U.S. Treasury reporting rate of exchange for Taiwan is NT$32.29 = US$1.00.
