PR0011E | Date: 2000-03-08

The 2000 International Supermarket Convention and Educational Exposition will be held May 7-10, 2000 at McCormick Place in Chicago, Illinois, USA.

The International Supermarket Convention and Exposition -- sponsored by the Food Marketing Institute (FMI) - is the single most important exposition for global supermarketing. The exposition will highlight food products, consumer packaged goods, retail equipment, merchandising systems and services, as well as educational workshops. The Show combines the industry's largest manufacturers of food and equipment with smaller companies, featuring innovative and one-of-a-kind products and services.

Exhibitors

The Show covers more than 1.3 million square feet. More than 1,500 exhibitors are expected, representing food & beverage, agriculture, non-food consumer items, equipment, technology, service industries and more.

Exhibits

New to the convention floor this year will be the Whole Health Pavilion, a large exhibit area showcasing whole health solution concepts. Companies and organizations associated with pharmacy, natural products, organics, supplements, health instruction and fortified foods will be featured. The rest of the massive convention exhibit floor will be filled with the world's best known food brands and new brands seeking to establish an identity.

Seminars

Featuring 35 different sessions, led by world-renowned experts, the educational program will kick off with a general session, entitled "Supermarket Industry Speaks." Workshops will address critical issues related to store operations and management. Topics to be addressed include: recruiting and retention, leadership development, mergers and acquisitions, crisis management, biotechnology and e-commerce. Designated sessions will be translated into six languages - Chinese, Japanese, Spanish, French, Portuguese, and Korean.

International Business Center

The GlobalConnect International Business Center will provide international visitors with services including international trade counseling, language assistance, and meeting and business lounge space.
