Luis CdeBaca, Ambassador-at-Large of the Office to Monitor and Combat Trafficking in Persons at the Department of State, praised Taiwan for its anti-trafficking efforts and urged local authorities and citizens to continue their fight against modern slavery. CdeBaca made the remarks in a press roundtable on November 22, shortly before wrapping up his four-day visit in Taiwan. He pointed out that the Taiwan authorities have provided good protection and support to trafficking victims.

Taiwan was listed in Tier 1, the highest possible ranking, in the U.S. State Department's annual Trafficking in Persons Report 2010 published in June.
