In an interview on ICRT radio's morning show on October 7, AIT Spokesperson Christopher Kavanagh talked about the upcoming midterm elections in the United States and encouraged U.S. citizens to vote absentee.

Recent polls in the United States indicate that the economy, jobs and health care are three of the key issues in the 2010 Congressional elections that will be held on November 2, said Kavanagh in the interview with DJ Terry Engel. This year's election is also important since it will influence the redistricting that will have to take place due to the 2010 census.

American citizens who stay overseas are encouraged to vote absentee in the upcoming elections. The U.S. Government official website for the Federal Voting Assistant Program http://www.fvap.gov was designed specifically for overseas voters with instructions on absentee voting. Registration requirements and deadlines for absentee voting vary by state, so Kavanagh encouraged interested voters to visit the website for more information.
