During a visit to the Matsu Island of Nangan on June 22nd, AIT Director Stanton identified a familiar symbol on a U.S.-produced artillery propellant canister on display in a military facility within the Matsu.  The symbol on the canister is similar to the major icon symbol of the "American Footsteps in Taiwan, 1950-1980" exhibit, an exhibit presented by AIT and its partners to reflect the close personal ties forged between Americans and the people of Taiwan during a turbulent historical period in the key era of 1950 to 1980.
