情人節 (Valentine』s Day) ：2月14日

浪漫與瓦倫泰日聯想在一起的主要原因，可能是來自一個中古世紀的傳說：鳥兒會在2月14日這天選擇自己的伴侶。在中古世紀期間，情侶會在這一天被送情詩或感性的文章給心愛的另一半聽，以榮耀這浪漫的一天。威廉‧莎士比亞 (William Shakespeare) 就曾寫過一首14行詩能不能讓我來把你比擬做夏日 (Shall I Compare Thee to a Summer』s Day?) 而詩人伊莉莎白‧巴瑞特 (Elizabeth Barrett) 也曾如此表達愛情：

我以什麼方式愛你呢；讓我細說從頭。

我是如此愛你，我的靈魂能飛往多深、多遠、多高的地方，我的愛依然跟隨。

The romance we associate with Valentine's Day may spring from the medieval belief that birds select their mates on February 14th. During the Middle Ages, human lovebirds recited verse or prose to one another in honor of the day. "Shall I compare thee to a summer's day?" wrote William Shakespeare. And poet Elizabeth Barrett Browning expressed love this way:

How do I love thee; let me count the ways.
I love thee to the depth and breadth and height
My soul can reach. . .
