獨特的童年時期

瑪格利特也學習如:音樂、素描及繪畫等技能與技藝。她的家人時常搬家,每到一個城鎮,她的媽媽就會利用現有的藝術家及工匠來教導她的小孩。瑪格利特學會如何雕刻木頭,因為他們住在一位雕刻木匠的附近,而另一位鄰居則教導她如何繪畫。這幅自畫像完成於瑪格利特13歲大時。

對瑪格利特來說,書寫是很重要的一件事9歲大時,即開始創作詩詞10歲大時,已經養成寫日記的習慣,而且常常寫信給她的朋友毫無疑問的,這種特殊教育已經為將來身為人類學者的瑪格利特預做準備。


Margaret also learned skills and crafts like music, drawing and painting. Her family moved frequently, and in each town her mother found artists and craftspeople to teach her children. Margaret learned how to carve wood because they lived near an artist who carved wood. Another neighbor taught her how to paint. Margaret drew this self-portrait when she was about 13 years old.

Writing was always important to Margaret. She started writing poetry when she was 9. When she was 10 she started keeping a diary and writing letters to friends. This unique education undoubtedly prepared Margaret for her work as an anthropologist.
